Thunder Chet Holmgren talks about the mentality of the Pacers’ Game 7
Indianapolis -- After the Oklahoma City Thunder lost in the sixth NBA Finals with the Indiana Pacers, forward Chet Homgren talked about his mentality for Game 7. The Thunder lost 91-108 to the Pacers at the Gainbridge Arena, which puts the Thunder in the crisis of finals elimination for the first time. However, Homegren is confident in the team’s ability to recover from losses and points to their performance in the playoffs this season.
The Thunder maintained a 6-0 record after losing a game throughout the playoffs, and Homegren is looking forward to Sunday's seventh decisive game.
"I just try to keep myself from being influenced by emotions. Obviously, losing the game is frustrating, and that's not fun at all," Homgren said. "Everyone is in a bad mood now, but you can't let emotions affect what we need to do before and during the game. We have won and lost all over the playoffs, so our mentality is the same. Turn around, don't forget what just happened, but think about where you can do better and bring that progress to the next game."
After only 4 points and 6 rebounds in the last game, Homegren said at a media meeting that he will do better in Game 7.
"Whatever happens, we have to adjust in time and get the right pace back. I personally will do better and try to push the game in the right direction," said Homgren. "We'll review the video and see what can be improved. Ultimately, we still have a very good chance to rebound in Game 7."
Like Homegren, Thunder forward Jaylen Williams believes that despite being beaten by the Pacers in Game 6, their mentality is correct.
"I think our mindset was right then," Williams said. "In that game, we failed to do some key details, which eventually led to a loss. The finals were different from other series in the playoffs because that was related to the end of the season. You played for so long, and every game was meaningful. Obviously, you want to win the championship, you don't want to let all of this work be wasted. The most different thing about this game now is here from the previous series with the Denver Nuggets or the Minnesota Timberwolves."
With the approaching game seven, the showdown between the Thunder and the Pacers has entered the most critical moment. The bets on both teams reached historic highs, with the Thunder playing against the Pacers at home for the final victory in the Finals.
