May 26th According to Arizona Sports Radio reporter John Gambadoro on his social account, the Suns have completed the second round of interviews for the new head coach.

John Gambadoro said the Sun interviewed about nine candidates through video conferences. He expects candidates who are shortlisted for the final stage of the interview will receive notification within the next two days and participate in the next offline meeting.

The Suns fired Mike Budenholzer as head coach one month and a half ago, and their position as head coach has been vacant since then. Budenholzer led the Milwaukee Bucks to the championship in 2021, so people were expecting him to bring the Suns back to the championship. However, he only achieved a record of 36 wins and 46 losses in his first season in coaching, and even failed to lead the team into the play-offs, which is disappointing.

As there are currently no vacancies for head coaching positions in the league, the Suns have time to calmly find the right candidate. In the early stages of the coaching election, the Suns made a lot of contact, and allegedly had preliminary conversations with 15 to 20 candidates in order to find a head coach who could set a new direction for the team. Team owner Matt Ishbiya said at a press conference after the end of the season that he hopes the next coach can bring more "hard spirit" to the team.

According to previous reports from hoopsrumors, current Suns assistant coach David Fitzdale has been on the final shortlist, and other finalists include: Mavericks assistant coach Sean Sweeney, Pelicans assistant coach James Borrego, Cavaliers assistant coach Johnnie Bryant and Jordan Ott, Nets assistant coach Steve Hetzel, Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Nori, Thunder assistant coach Dave Bliss and Heat assistant coach Chris Quinn.

Although the Suns have not disclosed the specific time for the official appointment of the head coach, considering that the NBA draft will be held in one month and the free agent market will open in five weeks, the team obviously hopes to determine this key position as soon as possible.
