Basketball

On October 20, the Rockets officially announced that the team officially reached a contract extension with forward Kevin Durant. In the official announcement, the Rockets released a series of Durant's scoring records:

Durant averaged 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.13 blocks and 1.05 steals per game in his career. He is one of six players in NBA history to average at least 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists per game, and the only one to average at least 1 block and 1 steal per game.

This season, Durant needs 849 points to surpass Chamberlain and move to seventh place on the NBA's all-time scoring list; he needs 990 points to surpass Nowitzki and move to sixth place. He has averaged at least 25 points per game in each of the past 16 seasons. James (20 seasons) is the only other player to average more than 25 points per game for at least 12 seasons.

In the past five seasons, Durant ranked fifth in the league with an average of 27.5 points per game, ranked sixth in the league in three-point field goal percentage (41.5%), and averaged at least 2 three-pointers per game. In the 2024-25 season, he is one of six players in the league averaging at least 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

Durant has averaged at least 25 points per game in the past three seasons, shooting 50% or more from the field, and 40% or more from three-point range. He has done this seven times in his career. No other player in league history has accomplished this for more than three consecutive seasons.
