Liverpool women s football coach s death was found out: hanged himself

Football

On September 29, local time in the UK, coroner John Griffith proved at a court hearing that former Liverpool women's football coach Matt Beard committed suicide by hanging himself at home on September 20.

Griffith said that medical staff were called to Beard's home and then rushed him to the hospital, but failed to save his life. Beard, 47, died in the hospital at 21:15 on September 20, British Daylight Time.

Griffith's statement led to the forced postponement of the hearing, and it will be held at an appropriate time after the results of the comprehensive investigation come out.

Beard led Liverpool to win consecutive English Women's Premier League titles in 2013 and 2014.

In 2021, he entered the Liverpool Women's Football Team for the second time, but was fired in February this year.

Beard's last coach was at Burnley Women's Football Team, but he resigned in June this year just two months after taking office. The football community has been showing strong support for Beard since his death.

On Sunday, September 21, all the English Women's Super League and Women's Super League II matches held a one-minute silence ceremony to mourn Beard. The Liverpool Women's Football Team's match against Aston Villa was postponed.

Manchester United women's football coach Mark Skinner described Beard as an "idol", and England women's football legend Fara Williams called Beard "unique and has the purest soul".

The fundraising organized by journalist Jacque Authley raised more than £50,000 for Beard's family.
