Tebas: I have been a Real Madrid fan since I was 6 years old, and I defend Real Madrid in my own way

Hupu reported on November 23 that La Liga president Javier Tebas responded to Florentino’s accusations at the Real Madrid general meeting on social media.

Today at the Real Madrid membership meeting, a member proposed that I be declared "persona non grata", and the chairman's reply was: "If everyone agrees, I don't know what can be gained by this." There were people applauding at the scene. Honestly, I only felt one thing: sad.

I have been a Real Madrid fan since I was 6 years old, when I returned to Spain with my family. No one forced me to do it, nor did I “inherit” the membership from my father or grandfather. I chose to be a Real Madrid fan. And the "Real Madrid spirit" cannot be defined by a piece of paper, a vote or a seat in the box. The real spirit of Real Madrid lies in the millions of unknown fans who suffer and celebrate with the team, and are often much more involved than those sitting in the office with their IDs in their hands.

Some people accuse me of being "anti-Real Madrid". I'm not, and it hurts my heart to hear that. I'm still as much a Real Madrid fan as anyone. That is why I want to maintain a strong, competitive league that is valuable to everyone - where every club, big or small, has its place. Because without a solid league, Real Madrid itself will become insignificant.

Now, those at the helm of Real Madrid - not the club itself, nor its history - are pushing for super-sport projects that will weaken or even destroy the home that made them strong: La Liga. By defending La Liga and speaking the truth to the right people in every situation, you are safeguarding the ecosystem that makes Real Madrid what it is today.

They can call me "persona non grata" and they can try to expel me from "Real Madrid history". But what they can't erase is the relationship I have had since I was 6 years old. Defending La Liga, from my perspective, is also defending Real Madrid in my own way. This is not a convention or something that can be taken away by a label.
