NBA may usher in another major contract renewal during the offseason! According to ClutchPoints reporter Brett Siegel, Daron Fox is officially eligible to sign a four-year, $229 million max salary with the Spurs from today, and the two sides are expected to finalize the details in the next few days.

Although the final amount may be slightly lower than the maximum salary (200 million in four years), in either case, Fox will become the first "200 million" in the Spurs' history, breaking the previous record of Devin Vassell's 5-year record of 146 million.

Speaking of Fox's strength, former NBA player Eman Shampoo once praised him: "I love the duo of Wenbanyama and Fox. As long as the Spurs give Fox enough fire, he can dominate the direction of the game. Since John Wall, I am sure that Fox is the fastest player in the NBA. He is like carrying two jets and whizzing past the court like a bowling ball."

Fox has countless highlights. In the NBA Cup group stage on November 16, 2024, facing the Timberwolves, he made 22 of 35 shots, 6 of 10 of 3 points, 10 of 11 free throws, and 60 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists 3 Stealing 1 block not only created the highest score in his career, but also strongly broke the Kings' history scoring record.

What's more amazing is that the next day he made 16 of 30 shots, scored 49 points, 9 assists and 2 steals, and scored a total of 109 points in the two back-to-back games. In the past 57 years of the NBA, he is second only to Kobe's back-to-back 60+50.

Fox's current contract has 1 year and 37.1 million (2025-26 season), and the Spurs are facing a choice:

Maximum salary is 229 million for 4 years: locking in the 27-year-old peak point guard, but it may squeeze the salary space of Wenban Yama (326 million can be signed in 2026 for 5 years).

Price reduction to 200 million in 4 years: balancing risks, but does the Fox team accept it?

No contract renewal: Bet Fox rebounds next season, but may lose him after joining the Spurs last season, Fox played only 17 games, and he averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.5 steals per game, with a shooting percentage of 44.6% and a three-point shooting percentage as low as 27.4%, a significant decline compared to the Kings' average of 25 points, 5 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 steals per game, with a shooting percentage of 46.9% and 32.2% of three-point shooting percentage.

In the long run, a healthy and integrated Fox may be able to work with Vampan Yama to lead the Spurs to a new height. Fox is in his battle year. He was born on December 20, 1997. He is currently under 28 years old and still has a lot of room for improvement.

What kind of agreement will be reached in the next contract negotiations and whether Fox's future value can match this high-value contract has undoubtedly become the focus of fans and media attention, let's wait and see.
