Average annual average of 72.5 million! Booker renewed his contract with the Sun at a sky-high price, and the Durant Bill era officially ended

According to well-known reporter Shams, Suns star Devin Booker has reached a two-year, super maximum salary renewal agreement of $145 million, and the contract will last until the 2029-30 season, setting a record for the highest annual average salary renewal in NBA history.

The Loyal Son of the Suns has been selected by the Suns with the 13th pick in the first round in 2015, Booker has always been holding on to Phoenix. In 673 games in his career, he averaged 24.4 points, 5.2 assists and 4 rebounds per game, shooting 46.4% from the field (35.4% of three-pointers and 87.3% of free throws). The four-time All-Star, twice-selected scoring machine, once joined hands with Chris Paul to reach the finals in 2021.

The difficulties and lineup reshuffle in recent years have been challenging for Booker and the Suns: After a row of second rounds from 2022 to 23, the team suffered the first round of elimination in 2024 and missed the playoffs last season. The Big Three, composed of Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, failed to meet expectations due to injuries, insufficient lineup depth and defensive loopholes.

The Suns management has now made it clear that they will build the team with Booker as the core: they trade Durant to the Rockets for Jaylen Green, Dillon Brooks and the second round pick; at the same time, they are discussing a buyout with Bill, who has received recruitment intentions from multiple playoff teams.

Although not completely rebuilt, the Suns are clearly committed to building the most competitive roster around Booker. This record-breaking contract renewal demonstrates the team's determination to return to the championship ranks with the leading star in the next five years.
