Grizzlies complete one sign and one exchange! Introduce Landal with a minimum salary of 1 for 2, send Huff to the Pacers
On July 6, according to famous reporter Shams, sources revealed that free agent center Jock Landare has reached a signing agreement with the Grizzlies, and subsequent reports said that the two sides signed a one-year basic salary contract. In addition, the Grizzlies will free up a roster spot for Landal by sending Jay Huff to the Pacers to exchange for a future second-round pick and a second-round pick exchange right.
It is reported that the draft pick sent to the Grizzlies is the second round of 2029 that originally belonged to the Trail Blazers, and the draft pick swap rights will take effect in 2031.
The Rockets will cut Landale's $8 million salary in the upcoming season before it is officially guaranteed. The original guarantee date was last Sunday, but he agreed with the team to change the date to July 7. Langdale needs to complete the layoff process before joining the Grizzlies.
The 29-year-old big man signed a four-year, $32 million contract with the Rockets in 2023, with only one season of salary fully guaranteed. He played in 42 games this year, averaging 4.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 11.9 minutes.
After the Rockets signed Capela as a free agent, Langdale's departure was expected - Houston's center position depth has been further improved, with Shin Kyung and Adams already in charge.
Earlier this week, the Pacers lost Miles Turner (transferred to the Bucks), and the introduction of Huff added an inside player to the team. For the 26-year-old Huff, Indiana will be his fifth team in five years and he has just had his best-performing season in his NBA career. Last season, he played 64 games for the Grizzlies, averaging 6.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11.7 minutes, shooting 51.5% from the field and 40.5% from three-pointers.
Huff's salary for the next two seasons is $2.4 million and $2.7 million, respectively, and the contract also includes a player option worth $3 million in the 2027-28 season.
