The 2024-25 season s All-Rookie Team is released, and the stars shine to show the future
On May 21, the NBA officially announced the 2024-25 All-Rookie Team, giving this vibrant and surprising rookie season a strong mark. In this season, a group of young players have broken through the ground and made their mark in the league with their passion and talent. Now they have reaped their own honors, which also makes us look forward to the future of the NBA.
Best Rookie Team: The symbol of strength and talent
The members of the Best Rookie Team are the best among the rookies this season. St. Antonio Spurs' Stephen Castle was selected unanimously with an undisputed performance, becoming the biggest winner. The No. 4 pick from the University of Connecticut, who averaged 14.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists this season, has quickly gained a foothold in the Spurs and became the core puzzle in the team’s reconstruction process with a mature game style, excellent organizational skills and defensive awareness. He not only won the love of fans, but also won the recognition of the entire league. He was selected as the first team of the Best Rookie with unanimous votes, setting a new record for the Best Rookie Team selection in the past five years, and also wrote a new chapter for the history of the Spurs, becoming the fourth best rookie in team history, breaking the Spurs' tradition of "the best rookie must be the No. 1 pick."
Atlanta Hawks No. 1 pick Zachary Rissache also performed well, making the first team with 99 first votes and 199 points. Rissache averaged 12.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, with a three-point shooting percentage of up to 38.7%, showing the French genius' shooting talent. His excellent 3D traits are fully in line with the needs of modern basketball. His stunning performance of 38 points in a single game has set a new rookie scoring record and is expected to become the core of the Hawks' offensive in the future. The Memphis Grizzlies became the big winner in this selection, with two rookies Jaylen Wells and Zach Eddy both being selected for the first round. It is amazing that Jaylen Wells, as the second round pick with 39th pick, successfully staged a counterattack show, and was selected with 96 first votes and 195 points. This season, he averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, and his three-point shooting percentage is as high as 38.7%, perfectly adapting to the Grizzlies' running and shooting system and becoming a powerful booster for the team's offense.
and No. 9 pick Zach Eddy supported the inside with a stable performance of 13.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. His traditional center-based style provides solid guarantees for the inside of the Grizzlies, and his highlight moment of grabbing 21 rebounds in a single game is even more impressive. The Grizzlies have also become the first team in the past five years to have two players selected for the Best Rookie Team.
The second-place champion of the Washington Wizards Alex Saar also showed great potential in his rookie season, making the first team with 150 points. He averaged 13.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.7 blocks per game, and performed well on both offense and defense. With his top moving speed and excellent physical talent, he will definitely have unlimited possibilities as long as he improves in confrontation and three-pointers in the future.
Best Rookie Second Team: The future star with unlimited potential
Best Rookie Second Team players should not be underestimated, and they have also shown outstanding strength in their rookie season. Miami Heat's Kyle Weal led the second team with 138 points, averaging 9.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. His tough ball style and excellent shooting ability have injected new vitality into the Heat's interior and are expected to become an important pillar of the team's future interior. As the No. 11 pick, Matas Buzzellis of the Chicago Bulls improved his role after the trade deadline, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1 assist, showing the potential of an all-around forward. With the increase in ball rights, his passion and potential on both offense and defense are gradually released and he is expected to grow into the future core player of the Bulls.
New Orleans Pelicans' Yves Missy performed well this season and was selected for the second team with 90 points. During his injury, Zion stood up in the interior, averaging 9.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. His rebounding ability and on-field enthusiasm were eye-catching, contributing to the Pelicans' stability in the interior.
The Portland Trail Blazers' No. 7 pick Donovan Klingen showed a strong defensive deterrence with 2.1 blocks per game, and averaged 6.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game despite playing only 48 games due to injury. His presence has built a barrier for the Trail Blazers' inside defense. If he can stay healthy, he will definitely become the core figure of the team's inside defense.
Bab Carrington of the Washington Wizards was selected into the second team with 53 points, averaging 9.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. As the team's starting point guard, he showed good organizational and scoring skills in his rookie season, playing an important role in the Wizards' offensive sorting.
