On October 17, 5 days before the start of the new season, 32-year-old Dinwiddie was officially waived. According to ESPN reporter Shams, the Hornets had waived defender Spencer Dinwiddie, and then the Hornets officially announced Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie is a veteran with 11 years of NBA experience. In July this year, he signed a one-year minimum salary contract with the Hornets in the free agent market. Since the regular season will start next week , the Hornets had to release a guaranteed salary, and eventually the Hornets chose to lay off Dinwiddie; before being laid off, Dinwiddie played 2 preseason games for the Hornets, averaging only 3 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.5 turnovers in 15 minutes per game, and his shooting percentage was only 33.3%.

Last season, Dinwiddie played 79 games for the Mavericks, averaging 11.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, shooting 41.6% from the field, 33.4% from the three-point range, and 80.2% from the free throw line.

Dinwiddie was selected by Detroit with the 38th overall pick in 2014. Since his 11-year career, he has played for the Pistons, Nets, Wizards, Mavericks and Lakers. He has played in a total of 621 regular season games (345 starts), averaging 13 points, 3 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 27.7 minutes per game. He won the Player of the Week on November 26, 2019, and won the All-Star Skills Competition in the 2017-18 season.

Previously, the 32-year-old Brogdon officially announced his retirement, so where will the 32-year-old Dinwiddie’s next stop be? Can he still return to the NBA? We can only wait and see.
