Atletico Madrid bought another Argentine midfielder for 21 million euros and officially joined after physical examination

On July 16, Atletico Madrid Club of La Liga officially announced that it had reached an agreement with Botafogo on the transfer of Argentine midfielder Almada, which will be finally confirmed after the player passes the physical examination.
According to media reports, Atletico Madrid will pay 21 million euros to acquire 50% ownership of Almada.
Thiago Almada is 24 years old and an Argentine midfielder. He joined Botafogo for 19.5 million Euro transfer in the summer of 2024, playing for the team in 26 games, contributing 3 goals and 2 assists, and then was loaned to Lyon to play in 20 games for Lyon, contributing 2 goals and 4 assists.
It is worth mentioning that Botafogo has been punished by FIFA for violating the rules in the previous process of introducing Almada. They failed to pay transfer fees owed to Almada's former boss Atlanta United, and were asked to pay double the amount owed and divided by an additional fine.
