Mbappe made his debut in the Club World Cup in a 1-0 victory over Juventus. The return of the French star shows people the value he can bring in the Real Madrid team that is being reshaped by Xavi Alonso. In the 68th minute of the game, Mbappe made a comeback in Miami's substitute Garcia. The latter not long ago scored the team's first record with a wonderful header. During Mbappe's absence, the Real Madrid youth training player (Garcia) seized the opportunity to perform well. But after Mbappe's return, he was full of vitality throughout the whole process, cooperated with Vinicius on the front line, and almost shot a cross from the Brazilian player into the net.

This appearance is also Mbappe's first appearance under Alonso's coaching. Alonso has just led the team to play four games so far. Obviously, the 27-year-old French star will become a key part of the Spanish coach's future plan.

For most of Mbappe's substitute, Alonso adjusted the formation from 3-5-2 to 3-4-3, with Mbappe as center. The experience of last season may have made this position no stranger to him. Although he may not be a natural No. 9 player strictly speaking, Mbappe's performance in scoring 43 goals in various competitions last season was enough to make people feel less complaints about his first appearance.

It is worth noting that Real Madrid starts in this game more with a 3-5-2 formation. Therefore, at some time in the future, the French star may be paired with Vinicius to form a double striker. Such a formation may help him share some of the pressure to score.

Understandably, Mbappe has not yet returned to 100% sharpness and has been recently hospitalized for gastroenteritis. Despite this, he ran out of excellent positions many times, but unfortunately his teammates failed to deliver the ball in time.

It is not clear whether he will start in the quarterfinals (regardless of his opponent). But fans will undoubtedly be excited to see how this superstar, who just won the 2024/25 European Golden Boot Award, will integrate into this new-looking Real Madrid. Real Madrid will face Dortmund or Monterrey in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup on Saturday, July 5.
