On May 17 local time, in the WTA1000 Roma final, the No. 6 seed Borini, who played at home, fell into two straight sets, defeating No. 4 seed Gofu 6-4 and 6-2, becoming the first local female player to win the championship since Rafira Reggie in 1985. This is Bolini's first clay event champion, the second 1000 event champion and the third career championship. In the first two encounters between the two, both on the hard field, Gao Fu won twice. But Bolini has found a way to restrain her opponent in the clay court. Last month, Borini defeated Gove for the first time on the indoor clay court in Stuttgart, and now she has won again in Rome’s clay court, rewriting the two’s overall clash record to 2-2.

is on next week's latest world rankings. Borini will rush to the highest fourth place in her career and will surpass Svatech to become the No. 4 seed in the French Open women's singles. And Gofu, who lost the final, will still return to the second highest world in his career.

"To me, this doesn't seem real," Bollini said excitedly after winning. "I came here to watch the game when I was a child, so I never dreamed of raising this trophy. As a local player, I was dreaming of winning the championship in Rome. I enjoyed this moment very much. It was a wonderful moment."

Gaof said: "Borini put a lot of pressure on me. Maybe I could have performed better, and of course I could do it completely. But she is fighting for victory today, and she deserves to win."

And the good show is not over. On May 18 local time, Borini defeated Kudmetova/Mertens 6-4, 7-5 with veteran Elani to defend the women's doubles championship. Borini has therefore become the first player to win the singles and doubles championship in the WTA 1000 event since Zvonareva won the championship in Indian Wells in 2009.
