Hupu September 7th Leverkusen plans to appoint a new coach at the latest next Tuesday or Wednesday to lead the team to prepare for the Bundesliga match against Frankfurt at home. This is a plan previously announced by Leverkusen's senior management. Last Monday, Eric Tenhager, 55, had to be fired after only three official games.

Leverkusen is looking for a successor. Club president Fernando Carlo (61) told MagentaSport before Leverkusen women's football team in Munich on Saturday (0-2 loss to Bayern Munich). "Of course, we need coaches who can lead the team, provide clear direction and have strength. These are definitely the qualities that new coaches should have. I hope we can announce some news next week."

According to German media Biography, although Ang Postkoglu (60/most recently played for Tottenham Hotspur) and former Juventus head coach Thiago Mota (43) are not popular candidates for Leverkusen, but Caspar Jurmand (53) is the candidate Leverkusen is considering.

It is not clear whether Yulmander will eventually be selected. But this makes sense! The former Danish national team coach has not coached the team since leaving in the summer of 2024. He is currently a consultant to the construction of the Danish Football Association's new youth training campus "Hele Danmarks Klubhus".

In addition, Yuermand also has rich experience in dealing with world-class stars. He has participated in 54 national team competitions and three championships (2021 and 2024 European Championships, 2022 World Cup).

In 2012, Jurmand won the Danish championship with North Zeland Football Club. The club develops top talents every year. Yuermand's ability to speak fluent English is an important criterion in the Leverkusen locker room. In addition, he speaks German.

Tactically, Yuermand prefers to adopt a 3-4-2-1 formation, which is ideal for Leverkusen's top lineup.

Jurmander was very familiar with the Bundesliga during his coaching in Mainz in 2014/15. At the time, Kelde Bodinggard, 62, was his assistant coach. Bodinggard is now the dean of Leverkusen Coach Academy.

In addition, Yuermand has long been one of Leverkusen's head coaching candidates, and was even considered the successor of Xavi Alonso. In other words, the two sides have known each other for many years - Jurmand will never be just a spare tire choice for Leverkusen!

Recently, the atmosphere of the team coached by Tenghager has completely fallen to the bottom. The powerful Danish, whose speech was highly appreciated by the national team players, was ideal for Leverkusen.

In the 2021 European Cup, Jurmand has proved his ability to deal with the crisis - his core player Christian Eriksen (33/now not playing for any club at this time) has also been proven after shock.

In an interview with Players Tribune before the 2022 World Cup, Yuermand talked about this special situation: "Our culture is under pressure. Are we united? Are we helping each other? It is a test to show who we are. I think we have shown everyone and the world the character of this team."

Then, Yuermand led Denmark to the semi-finals of the European Cup - will Leverkusen return to the top of the Bundesliga standings soon under Yuermand?

But one thing is clear: Leverkusen has no pressure on coaching choices because they have a temporary coach trusted by the club - Rogill Mayer (44). It wouldn't be surprising if the Dutch coach commanded as a coach against Frankfurt.
