Post: Manchester United interested in Wolves midfielder Joao Gomez, could also loan Gallagher in January

On November 16, the "Daily Mail" reported that Manchester United intends to introduce Wolves midfielder Joao Gomez.

Manchester United has made the purchase of a new No. 6 player a priority, but Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City will all be competing in the same transfer market and have more funds at their disposal.

Towards the end of the summer transfer window, Manchester United made inquiries for Brighton's Baleba and Atletico Madrid's Gallagher. However, they were ultimately unable to reach a deal as they had already spent £230 million on Mbemo, Cunha, Sheshko and Lamence.

Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace's Adam Walton will be popular targets at the end of the season, while the Daily Mail understands that Manchester United are also eyeing Wolves midfielder Joao Gomez.

Manchester United is trying to reduce its wage bill, which is one of the reasons why the club is unwilling to renew the contract of Casemiro, who earns 375,000 pounds a week. That could put them at a disadvantage against Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, who are also likely to outbid United in terms of transfer fees.

Manchester United would prefer to sign a new midfielder before this World Cup to avoid the price of their favorite player soaring after his outstanding performance in the tournament, so they may have to consider cheaper, younger targets.

Signing a midfielder in January will allow Manchester United to explore the possibility of Menu leaving the team. The youngster still hopes to leave the team on loan. United cannot be ruled out making signings in January, with Gallagher potentially becoming an option to join on loan and paving the way for a £45m transfer in the summer window. The 25-year-old is happy in Spain but 12 of his 16 appearances for Atletico this season have come as a substitute and he hopes to get more playing time ahead of this World Cup.
