Telegraph: Wolves will negotiate a contract renewal with Larson, Fosun executives insist that they will not sell

Football

Hupu September 8th, the latest report by John Percy, a well-known reporter from the Daily Telegraph, said that the Wolves had started contract renewal negotiations with Jorgen Strand Larson after rejecting Newcastle United's offer last month.

Strand Larson will receive a thicker contract and is expected to remain at the West Midlands club.

Wolves rejected Newcastle United's two offers for the Norwegian international, one for £50 million and the other for £55 million, and are preparing to reject the third offer of around £60 million.

Club Chairman Schyu took a tough stance on Strand Larson's future and clearly told Newcastle United that he would not be sold regardless of the price.

After both quotations failed, Newcastle United chose to focus all their energy on signing Brentford's Yoan Visa, who completed the transfer on the transfer deadline.

Wolves are interested in providing Strand Larson with a new contract after the transfer window is closed and negotiations have begun with the player's agent.

It is understood that Wolves are unlikely to include termination clauses in the new contract. Wolves had negotiated with Mattus Cunha on a £62.5 million termination clause earlier this year when the Brazil international joined Manchester United, but the negotiations were seen as a more direct progress.

Strand Larson joined on loan last season and only officially transferred from Celta this summer for £23 million.

He has become a key player under head coach Vitor Pereira, and after a minor Achilles tendon injury, he hopes to score a game against Newcastle this weekend.
