Yamal s age fraud? Real age detonates the Internet: Falsification accusations and strong counterattacks from fans

The controversy over the age of Barcelona star Yamal has been fermenting on the Internet recently. Some netizens said that the 17-year-old player is over 20 years old, and posted documents and screenshots from many years ago as evidence. And this debate began after Yamal continued to shine in La Liga and Champions League.

A netizen shared a screenshot of a newspaper in 2015 and said: "Look at this, it clearly states that Laming was 10 years old at the time. According to this calculation, he is at least 20 years old now."

Another netizen quoted the homepage of a post posted by a Barcelona fan in 2021, showing that Yamal was marked as 15 years old at the time. The third netizen added: "What is more solid is the ID card photo, which shows that he was born on July 13, 2005 and turns 20 this year. The problem is very serious" and attached a blurred ID photo.

Barcelona fans quickly fought back. A fan posted a photo of the birthday party in 2018: "This is the scene of Yamal celebrating his 11th birthday in 2018", and emphasized that "his real date of birth is July 2007, and some people just want to create topics."

At present, the relevant discussions have formed a discussion craze with more than 100,000 tweets, and mainstream media such as Spain's "World Sports" have also begun to pay attention to this matter.

I have to say that this "age counterfeiting" farce is a classic sample of contemporary online carnival. A few vague screenshots can set off a public opinion storm of 100,000. The keyboard detectives' appearance of using pixelated evidence to determine the case is more dramatic than a real football game. When people climax the phantom of their ID cards and the old posts with dislocation of years, they selectively ignore the most basic logic: if there is really age fraud, how can the strict bone age test of the European youth training system be misunderstood?

More ironic is that some people would rather believe in the "conspiracy theories" with loopholes than admit that a 17-year-old genius who subverts his cognition was born in the football world. This absurd drama reflects perhaps not the age puzzle of the players, but the collective rational anemia in the era of keyboard case-making. Instead of searching for "proof of guilt" in the old paper, it is better to let the bullets fly for a while. After all, talent never lie on the green field.
