Sinner reached the final of the Vienna Open
With this victory, Sinner became the first player since Novak Djokovic (2015–2016 season) to reach at least eight finals in two consecutive seasons.
Before the semifinals, Sinner had not faced any break points in his first three matches at the ATP 500 tournament in Austria. Despite losing serve twice to De Minaur, the Italian still controlled the match and won the right to reach the final against second seed Alexander Zverev.
De Minaur enters the match with a 0-11 head-to-head record against Sinner. When the number one seed took advantage of a break point in the first return game, things soon became unfavorable for De Minaur.
"I tried to play my best tennis. The first set was very physically stressful, so I'm glad I won in two sets ", Sinner said. "He changed a few things, and I was prepared for that. I don't want to say what, he knows ".
Sinner said that De Minaur knows how to create pressure, plays very persistently, and surprised today with his cuts along the line. However, he promptly adapted to the adjustments coming from his Australian opponent. In this match, De Minaur showed remarkable speed and defensive technique, but had difficulty not being able to make good use of the serves. The world number seven tennis player only wins 52% of points from first serve.
After winning three titles in 2025 at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and China Open, Sinner will aim for his fourth cup at 8:00 p.m. today, October 26, Hanoi time.
Sinner has reached the finals in 8 of the 10 tournaments he attended this year, except Halle and Shanghai. The 24-year-old tennis player still has a chance to compete for the world No. 1 position at the end of the year, although Carlos Alcaraz is dominating the race.
In Vienna, Sinner has not lost a set throughout this year's tournament and currently has a record of 16 wins - 4 losses here. He won this ATP 500 tournament the last time he attended, in 2023.
