BBC follows the team: Gueye’s situation has not been updated; Chelsea are satisfied with the lineup and should not buy in the winter window

Hupu, October 13th: BBC Chelsea and team reporter Nizaar Kinsella answered fans’ questions.

Why do you think no one said we would repurchase Geyi? Surely signing him in January would be a smart move given our ongoing injury issues at the back?

The board seems reluctant to actually sign the players we need, but has no hesitation in spending big money to sign a forward like Gittens.

After Liverpool's transfer failure on the transfer deadline, anything is possible. All of Europe's top clubs could take a chance on Gueye, who has less than a year left on his contract with Crystal Palace.

We know that Chelsea’s senior management are aware of his abilities. However, I doubt injuries will be a factor at this stage - with multiple players set to return.

The next question will be whether Chelsea's plans appeal to Gueye, if they make an offer, and whether he better fits the team's needs than other players currently available. I don't expect to hear anything about this in the near future.

Before Colewell was injured in the summer, Chelsea considered signing defenders, most notably Dean Huizen, but they were happy to bring in Jorel Hutto from Ajax in order to give academy graduate Achim Pong more opportunities.

Will Chelsea be looking for a new goalkeeper in January?

Chelsea have funds available in January but are currently happy with their squad and will only sign players who can take the club to the next level.

They also explored the potential market opportunity of signing Mike Maignan, but decided that the price of 25 million pounds was too high for a player with one year left on his contract, so they gave up.

Of course, this price may drop in January, but the Blues are generally satisfied with the form of Roberto Sanchez (who won the Club World Cup Golden Glove Award) and are not expected to return to the transfer market.

Young player Mike Penders also remains at the club, and his future prospects are another factor to consider.
