Pogba is suspended for two years and will be hired again. His next home is it

According to the latest report by the well-known football reporter Fabrizio Romano, French midfielder Paul Pogba, who has experienced a long ban, is about to return to the green field. He will join the Ligue 1 powerhouse Monaco Club as a free agent. In confirmation of its iconic "Here we go!", Romano revealed that the two parties have reached a principled agreement on a two-year contract, and the transfer can be officially completed only after the final details are finalized.

Pogba's career suffered a major setback in 2023. After Juventus made a substitute in the Serie A League against Udinese on August 20 of that year, he tested positive for post-match stimulant and was found to contain the banned substance Dehydroepiandrosterone (a powerful androgen). This result directly led to his severe punishment of four years of ban on the Italian anti-doping court.

Then, the Pogba team appealed. After trial, the relevant institutions partially adopted the defense of "accusing banned drugs" and eventually significantly reduced their ban period to 18 months. Despite the shortened suspension period, Juventus club still chose to terminate the contract with the high-paying midfielder in November 2024. Pogba's suspension was officially lifted on March 11, 2025, and he was restored to his freedom.

Pogba said: "During my ban, I wanted to ask Juventus for help, such as treatment or training. But I was not qualified for those, and they didn't really stand with me. Feeling this hit me a big blow, I don't understand why. I told myself that I was fighting anti-doping, not fighting Juventus."

Pogba continued: "I don't understand anything, it's very difficult, and I was taken away before I was ready. The way of verdict and sentence... It's really shocking. A drug test failed will be suspended for four years, without explanation, and no one listened to my explanation."

Now, Pogba, who has escaped the shadow of ban, has chosen his next stop in Monaco, his motherland, France. This free transfer marks that he will restart his football chapter in the familiar Ligue 1 stadium after a long off-court storm. Monaco is expected to be a new starting point for the former World Cup champion to regain its momentum.
