TA: Liverpool denies that they are interested in Balcola, they do not sell Nunez and have the financial resources to buy Isaac
August 12th, TA famous reporter Ornstein and others jointly reported that Liverpool has the financial resources to acquire Isaac even if it did not sell Nunes this month. The Reds are not interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Barcola.
The Newcastle striker has not been involved in the team's preseason as Liverpool has been chasing Isaac. Although Newcastle stresses that it has no intention to sell him, they continue to look for potential replacements. Isaac will miss the first round of the Premier League away challenge Aston Villa this week, and his future is full of uncertainty. People familiar with the matter revealed that Isaac firmly stated that he would never play for Newcastle again.
Even though Newcastle refused to sell the 25-year-old Swedish striker and remained at Tyneside when the transfer window closed, Isaac believed that his career at St. James Park was over and he had no intention of reintegrating into the team.
Isaac's view is that he was told by the club last summer that he would not immediately provide him with a new contract because Newcastle needs to comply with the financial rules of football, and Isaac's existing contract is already generous and valid until 2028. After that, he made it clear that it would be his last season at the club. Some inside Newcastle denied that he had expressed this and believed that the striker had planned to discuss the situation after the 2024-25 season, including the possibility of renewing a new contract.
Isaac helped the team win the League Cup and advance to the Champions League. Two weeks before the season, he expressed his willingness to leave the team to coach Eddie Howe and reiterated the idea to the coach by phone before flying to Sweden after losing to Everton in the final round.
Liverpool has not yet made another bid since its £110 million offer was rejected in early August. If a quote of nearly £150 million comes and Newcastle can find a replacement for Isaac through the market, the Magpies' stance may change.
Liverpool had offered a £110 million offer for Isaac before Nunes, so they were not relying on further player sales to promote a transfer to the Swedish striker. However, Nunez's departure did make a place for the team's lineup and also gave them greater room for flexibility financially. Although Liverpool's signings have cost as much as £300 million this summer, sports director Richard Hughes has also recovered about £200 million through player sales, including additional terms linked to performance.
Liverpool has the ability to break the UK transfer record for signing Isaac without worrying about the restrictions on Premier League PSR. But as of now, Newcastle's position on Isaac's "non-selling products" has not yet relaxed, which is why Liverpool has not yet made a higher offer.
In addition, Liverpool's senior executives denied rumors that the team was interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Barcola, and the team believed that introducing similar attackers would hinder the growth path of young player Ngumoha.
