Liverpool suffered a blow, defender left preseason tour after injury

Football

Joe Gomez left the Reds' Asian preseason due to an Achilles tendon injury, and Liverpool took a huge blow. The 28-year-old guard will be treated at AXA Training Center.

Therefore, Joe Gomez will miss the Reds' friendly match with AC Milan. Arn Slott, who was interviewed by Liverpool's official website earlier today, said:

"Of course, he was with us in the first half of the week, but his Achilles tendon had some problems. We thought it would be better to go back to England to evaluate him and get him back in a more ideal situation, rather than leaving every time. So, we decided to let him go back to the UK. But we hope he will be back soon."

Gomez was expected to play a major role this summer after Jarrell Quanssa's transfer to Leverkusen on July 2. Currently, only Van Dijk and Connate are two central defenders in the Reds, and there is also a young player Stephenson.

Moreover, worse, Connate was reportedly linked to Real Madrid this summer after a failed contract renewal with Liverpool. The Reds may have to sign a centre-back this summer, after they have been linked with Crystal Palace's Mark Gaixi.

"It surprised me, but it's what I've been looking for" - Milos Kirketz revealed what he "surprised" after completing Liverpool transfer

Liverpool left-back Milos Kirketz admitted that he was surprised by the club's professionalism and high standards. The Hungarian international joined the Reds from Bournemouth on June 26, 2025 for a transfer fee of £40 million.

Kerketz has been Bournemouth's left-back for the past two seasons, and he is the ideal successor for Robertson. The 21-year-old is known for his speed, offensive threat and high defensive efficiency. Asked if anything happened after joining the Reds, Kirket told Liverpool official website:

"Of course, I know this is one of the largest clubs in the world, and when I came here everything was so professional and high-level, it surprised me. You have to work hard every day for competition. It's the highest level. It surprises me, but it's also what I've been looking for, so I'm really happy."

Milos Kirketet's goal is to play a role for the Reds in a friendly match against AC Milan later today.
